A Letter To The Angel Of Death
05.05.04 (5:25 am)   [edit]
16 Rabi' Al-Awwal, 1425 A.H

O Angel of Death!

You are the one who takes the lovers and the friends away from one another!...

You are the one who makes the relatives depart from one another!...

You are the one who steps in between a husband and his wife!...

You are the one who destroys the enjoyments and the pleasure of people!...

You are the same one who cuts off relatives from each other!...and the one who makes boys and girls orphans!...and disperses all types of groups in different directions!...

O Angel of Death!

You are the one that does not fear emperors, the kings, nor the ceasars!...

You are the one that does not fear the emirs, the sultans, the leaders, nor the tyrant dictators!...

You are the one that crushes the great ones as well as the insignificant ones!...

You are the one who destroys the old persons as well as the young!...

You are the one who perishes the strong and the grown-up persons, as well as the young and tender persons!...

You are the one who has no mercy on the poor or needy!...

You are the one who doesn't leave any mighty person or any humble one!...

You are the one who doesn't leave a pious and righteous person, nor a proud and disobedient one!...

You are the one who pulls a child away from his mother when he is the only one for her and he is the source of her happiness- you leave her bereaved!...

You are the one who destroys the father while he has a very young child in the crib, and you make that baby and orphan!...

You are also the one who snatchess a mother from her nursing child, leaving him an orphan, too!...

You are the one who acts in a ravenous way by taking the two parents away from their loving child, and you leave him an orphan without a single parent to take care of him!...

You are the one that has respect- everyone lowers his head and bows his back for you. You make people afraid of you- they tremble and shiver from hearing your name!

O Angel of Death!

Oh! I am tired of the name of Death which I cannot run away from!...

There is no way that one can run away, hide, or protect himself from you.

You are the law and the decision of Allah (SWT), there is no way to change the rules of Allah (SWT).

You are the way to every living being...and the end to every living creature...Allah (SWT) says the following:

1. There is no God but He. Everything (that exists), will perish except His own face.

2. Every soul shall have a taste of death...

3. Wherever you are, death will find you out, even if you are in towers built up strong and high!...

4. Say: the Death from which you flee will truly overtake you: then will you be sent back to the Knower of things secret and open.

O Allah!

For death we are ready...

For Your Decisions and Your Power we submit...

We are anxious to come to You, ya Allah!...

We are afraid of Your Punishment...but we are fond of entering paradise...

We are very anxious to see You personally and to look at You, ya Allah!...

You are The Most Merciful...and the Ever-Lasting Merciful!...ya Allah!...ya Allah!...ya Allah!

Requests to my sisters
04.05.04 (10:32 am)   [edit]
16 Safar, 1425 A.H.

Requests to my sisters
By Shaykh Muhammed Saleem Dhorat

Allah ta'aalaa has honoured us with the best religion, Islaam and the greatest Prophet, Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. For the guidance of mankind, Allah ta'aalaa sent him to us with His final book, the glorious Qur'aan and completed the chain of prophethood.

This day I have perfected your religion for you and completed My Favour upon you and I have chosen for you Islaam as religion. (5:3)

Salvation lies now, only in accepting the religion Islaam with total submission and following in the footsteps of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam with total obedience and commitment, accepting him as the only guide and believing in all that he has brought without a shadow of doubt.

O believers! Enter into Islaam fully; and follow not the footsteps of the Shaytaan. Indeed, he is an open enemy for you. (2:208)

After his advent, all the previous commands from Allah ta'aalaa have been abrogated. The system revealed to the Prophet by Allah is second to none. Success of this world and the Hereafter lies only in following his teachings. Not only that, but at no time should one find an inclination towards any system other than the system of Islaam which is laid down by the Almighty Himself. And as for guidance, the only model and example is the Sovereign of both worlds, the greatest personality the world has ever seen, the adornment of the congregation of the Ambiyaa, our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. He said:

If Moosa (alayhis salaam) was alive, he would have had no choice but following me. (Hadeeth)

But no, by your Lord, they are not believers until they make you judge in all disputes between them and find in their hearts no dislike against your decisions, and submit with full submission. (4:65)

It is not fitting for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided an affair, that they should have any option in their affair; if anyone disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong path. (33:36)

If one accepts Allah as the Only One Worthy of worship, Islaam as the only way of life, the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam as the only guide and obeys the commands with total submission then he will be deserving of the great favour mentioned in the following Hadeeth:

He has tasted (the sweetness of) Imaan who accepted Allah as Lord and Muhammad as Messenger and Islaam as religion. (Hadeeth)

In this regard, men and women are equal. Many women are under the false impression that they are not responsible for Deen as much as men are, or that they cannot attain the high status that men will acquire in Jannah. This is not so. The superiority in the Hereafter depends upon Imaan and taqwaa and therefore it is possible for women to surpass men in matters pertaining to the Hereafter. The Qur'aan and Ahaadeeth have expounded commands and their rewards equally for men and women. The sisters should not become carefree in matters of Deen because, just as men are responsible for their actions, they too will be questioned regarding their deeds. Men and women will both have to stand in the court of Allah and answer on the Day of Qiyaamah.

On the day of Qiyaamah, the feet of the human being will not be able to move till he/she is questioned about five matters (and gives a reasonable account):

1. On what he/she spent his/her life,

2. In what pursuits he/she passed his/her youth,

3. From where did he/she earn his/her wealth,

4. On what he/she spent it,

5. How much he/she acted on the knowledge he/she had acquired. (Hadeeth)

It is therefore of utmost importance that every sister surveys her life and checks how far and to what extent she is committed to her Deen. Is her lifestyle in accordance with the teaching of the beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam? If not, then she should make a firm resolution now, to rectify her life and to mould herself into the lifestyle of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam which guarantees peace not only in this world but also in the Hereafter.

For those sisters who resolve to bring change in their lives, here are few suggestions:

1. Scrutinise carefully every aspect of your life and check whether it conforms to the Sharee'ah and the teachings of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam or not? Any habit, custom or practice contrary to the Islaamic teachings must be forsaken immediately. Thinking, ideas, social behaviour and characters should be moulded according to the guidelines of our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Inculcate in yourself good characters and behaviour and meet everyone with love, affection, a joyful heart and rejoicing countenance. Refrain from backbiting, slander, calumny, useless speech and talking excessively and substitute these with zikr, tasbeeh, istighfaar, tilaawat, learning, teaching and good speech.

A good word is charity. (Hadeeth)

Part of someone's being a good Muslim is his leaving alone that which does not concern him. (Hadeeth)

In short, become a model of virtue and a good example for all Muslim sisters.

2. Purify your house from those things that brings the displeasure of Allah. The mother plays a very important role in reforming the environment of the house.

Many sisters become victims of inferiority complex and adopt the evil system of the western culture thinking them to be ways of progress and advancement. Do not let this trend creep into your homes; instead, adopt the simple, yet peaceful way professed by Islaam with pride and without fear or hesitation. Simplicity and contentment should be the quality of every Muslim sister.

3. Look to the well being of your children in all aspects- spiritual, moral, physical and educational. Nurturing and the upbringing of children in an Islaamic way is the responsibility of the parents. However, to an extent, this responsibility lies on the shoulders of the mother more than the father. This is simply because the mother's lap is the first school for a child. The habits inculcated in the mother's lap at this tender age is likely to remain in him/her for the rest of his/her life. Children are a trust from Allah ta'aalaa and the parents are responsible for their training and education. The heart of a child is like a clear spotless mirror which readily accepts any image or imprint. If it is trained in the right manner, then it will develop all the good qualities in life and will become a source of salvation for the parents. On the contrary, if the training is improper and the environment of the home is incorrect, then destructive qualities will be learnt. Therefore the elders should rectify their own lives first since the child is likely to imitate what it observes from it's elders.

Discuss matters pertaining to the grave, resurrection, Jannah and Jahannam. Relate to them the stories of Sahaabah radhiyallahu anhum and the pious elders. The importance and greatness of Deen should be emphasised and modesty preserved. Shun the ways and fashions of the kuffaar. The immoral and shameless musical shows, TV and video programmes should have no place in our homes. The places of sinful enjoyment, cinemas and theatre etc. and other haraam activities are to be forsaken totally. Keep an eye on the reading material of the children. Shameless novels and fiction books have great effect on the minds of the children and it removes from them the love of religion.

Young girls should be protected from the western influence. If they are corrupted then what will happen to those children who will grow up in their laps? Modesty, shame, hijaab and charity should prevail in homes. If the children adopt western lifestyle, they will most probably forsake the Deen and the home will become a place of immorality and evil.

Make sure that the children are able to observe Salaat being performed in their homes and Qur'aan being recited daily. In short, they should feel that they are in an Islaamic environment.

4. You must emphasise that only halaal income will come into the home. You must make it clear to the husband that you give preference to a simple lifestyle maintained by halaal sources over a life full of luxuries and enjoyment incurred through haraam wealth. If you are firm in your resolution, insha'Allah, you will see the results very quickly. Haraam earnings is the cause of the tawfeeq of doing good being removed. Make sure that the whole family is maintained through halaal wealth in every aspect of their lives.

5. In social visits and gatherings, talk about the requirements of Deen. Very politely, with love and affection, explain the importance of Deen to friends, relatives and neighbours. Tell them whatever you know and continue seeking knowledge so that you can explain the necessities of Deen effectively. Do not criticise anyone, but rather talk positively about the exalted teachings of Islaam with sincerity, love and commitment.

If my sisters will heed to these humble requests, insha'allah, they will most definitely see changes, not only in their homes but also amongst the whole community. The lives of the women of the first century of Islaam were the cause of millions of women being guided to the Straight Path. When the women had adopted taqwaa, then great personalities and pious saints were born through them. It is necessary for you to seek correct Islaamic knowledge and become aware of your obligations towards your own lives and safeguarding the lives of your children. In so far as obedience to Allah is concerned, the men are no better than you. Allah says:

And their Lord has accepted from them (and said): I do not waste the work of any worker, male or female. (3:195)

Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, and is a believer, verily, We will give him a good life, and We will bestow on them their reward according to the best of their actions. (16:97)

For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for truthful men and women, for men and women who are patient and steadfast, for men and women who are humble, for men and women who give to charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's remembrance: for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and great reward. (33:35)

The Self (part 2)
03.30.04 (9:57 pm)   [edit]
10 Safar, 1425 A.H.

The Unbelievers Are Arrogant About Themselves

Those who do not expect to meet Us say, 'Why have angels not been sent down to us? Why do we not see our Lord?' They have become arrogant about themselves and are excessively insolent. (Qur'an, 25:21)

He Knows His Own Errors And Offers Excuses

In fact, man will be clear proof against himself in spite of any excuses he might offer. (Qur'an, 75:14-15)

Every Soul Is A Pledge For Man

Every self is held in pledge against what it earned, (Qur'an, 74:38)

The Believers Forbid The Lower Self Its Appetites

But as for him who feared the Station of his Lord and forbade the lower self its appetites, the Garden will be his refuge. (Qur'an, 79:40-41)
So have fear of Allah, as much as you are able to, and listen and obey and spend for your own benefit. It is the people who are safe-guarded from the avarice of their own selves who are successful. (Qur'an, 64:16)

The Believers Sell Their Own Souls In Return For The Hereafter

Allah has bought from the believers their selves and their wealth in return for the Garden. They fight in the Way of Allah and they kill and are killed. It is a promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel and the Qur'an and who is truer to his contract than Allah? Rejoice then in the bargain you have made. That is the great victory. (Qur'an, 9:111)
And among the people there are some who give up everything, desiring the good pleasure of Allah. Allah is Ever-Gentle with His servants. (Qur'an, 2:207)

The Unbelievers Deny What is Against Their Selves

We made a covenant with the tribe of Israel and We sent Messengers to them. Each time a Messenger came to them with somehing their lower selves did not desire, they denied some and they murdered others. (Qur'an, 5:70)

The Believers Purify Their Selves

And the self and what proportioned it and inspired it with depravity of heedfulness, he who purifies it has succeeded, (Qur'an, 91:7-9)

The Unbelievers Cover Their Selves Up

And the self and what proportioned it and inspired it with depravity of heedfulness, he who purifies it has succeeded, he who covers it up has failed. (Qur'an, 91:7-10)

The Unbelievers Follow Their Own Whims And Desires

Have you seen him who has taken his whims and desires to be his god? Will you then be his guardian? (Quran, 25:43)
Is someone on a clear path from his Lord like those whose bad actions have been made to seem good to them and who follow their own desires? (Qur'an, 47:14)
Among them are those who listen to you and then, when they leave your presence, say to those who have been given knowledge, 'What was that he just said?' They are those whose hearts Allah has sealed up and follow their own desires. (Qur'an, 47:16)

Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) addressing us said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord, i. e. we called aloud Allah-o Akbar, Allah is the Greatest). He, then, again said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord) and he (the Holy Prophet) then again said: I hope that you would constitute half of the inhabitants of Paradise and I shall explain to you its (reason). The believers among the unbelievers would not be more than a white hair on (the body of a) black ox or a black hair on (the body of a) white ox. [Sahih Muslim]

The Self
03.28.04 (8:08 pm)   [edit]
8 Safar, 1425 A.H

The Self Is Full Of Evil

You see many of them taking those who do not believe as their friends. What their lower selves have advanced for them is evil indeed, bringing Allah's anger down upon them. They will suffer punishment timelessly, for ever. (Quran, 5:80)
Yet you see those with sickness in their hearts rushing to them saying, 'We fear the wheel of fate may turn against us.' But it may well be that Allah will bring about victory or some other contingency from Him. They they will deeply regret their secret thoughts. (Quran, 5:52)
I do not say my self was free from blame. The self indeed commands to evil acts- except for those my Lord has mercy on. My Lord, He is Forgiving, Merciful.' (Qur'an, 12:53)

It Is Predisposed To Envy And Selfish Passions

If a woman fears cruelty or aversion on her husband's part, there is nothing wrong in the couple becoming reconciled. Reconciliation is better. But people are prone to selfish greed. If you do good and guard against evil, Allah is aware of what you do. (Qur'an, 4:128)

Man Is Actually Clear Proof Against Himself

In fact, man will be clear proof against himself in spite of any excuses he might offer. (Qur'an, 75:14-15)

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: Verily Allah Forgave my people the evil promptings which arise within their hearts as long as they did not speak about them or did not act upon them.

May Allah accept our deeds and place us among the righteous and victorious, Ameen ya Rabbal-'Aalameen.

Mother's Day=Bid'ah
03.16.04 (9:11 am)   [edit]
26 Muharram, 1425 A.H.

All festivals that go against the festivals that are prescribed in Islam are bid’ahs and innovations that were not known at the time of the righteous salaf, and they may have come from the non-Muslims, in which case as well as being innovations they also entail imitating the enemies of Allaah.

The Islamic festivals are well known to the Muslims, namely Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and the weekly festival (Jumu’ah or Friday). There are no other festivals in Islam apart from these three. All festivals which have been introduced apart from these are to be rejected and are false according to the law of Allaah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it will have it rejected,” (i.e., it will be thrown back at him and will not be accepted by Allaah.)

According to another version,

“Whoever does something that is not in accordance with this matter of ours (Islam) will have it rejected.”

Once this is clear, it is not permissible to celebrate the holiday mentioned in the question, which is known as Mother’s Day, and it is not permissible to introduce any of the symbols of that holiday such as expressing joy and happiness, giving gifts and so on. The Muslim must be proud of his religion and adhere to the limits set by Allaah for His slaves, without adding anything or taking anything away. Moreover, the Muslim should not be weak and spineless, following anyone who makes noise, rather he should mould his character according to the sharee’ah of Allaah so that he will be followed, not following, and so that he will be an example, not one who follows the example of others, because the sharee’ah of Allaah – praise be to Allaah – is perfect in all ways, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion” [al-Maa'idah 5:2]

Weeping From the Fear of Allah
03.13.04 (9:08 am)   [edit]
23 Muharram, 1425 A.H.

"Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah's Reminder and that which has been revealed of the truth, lest they become as those who received the Scripture before, and the term was prolonged for them and so their hearts were hardened? And many of them were rebellious, disobedient (faasiqoon)." [Al-Hadeed, (57):16]

Allah sent to us the Qur'an and "the skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allah." [39:23]

He mentioned in the Qur'an the promise and the threat, and made clear that His believing servants are fearful and shivering from the punishment of their Lord. Our Lord the Exalted elucidated to us that the believer, whenever his iman strengthens and his certainty increases, becomes more fearful of Allah.

Weeping of the Prophet, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam

The Prophet, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said to `Abdullah ibn Mas`ood, "Read to me the Qur'an." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I recite to you and it was revealed to you?" He said, "Yes, for I like to hear it from others." "I recited Soorat an-Nisaaa' until I reached the ayah,

"How (will it be) then, when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people?" [An-Nisaa' (4):41]

He then said, 'Stop now.' I found that his eyes were tearful." [Fath al-Bari 8:712]

Abdullah ibn ash-Shikhkheer, radhiallahu `anhu, said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, praying with us, and I heard the sound of his weeping coming out of his chest, which was like the sound of a boiling pot." [Abu Dawood, An-Nasaa'i, and At-Tirmidhi in ash-Shama'il, authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim]

Weeping of Abu Bakr, radhiallahu `anhu

`Aaisha said, "During his illness, the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, said: 'Order Abu Bakr to lead the prayer.' I told the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, that, 'Indeed, if Abu Bakr stands in your place the people will not be able to hear him due to his (excessive) weeping.'" [al-Bukhari]

Our weeping

The righteous have cried, the worshippers have cried and the believers have cried. And in this time there are people by whom a complete year passes and they do not drop a single tear from the fear of Allah.

O Allah we seek refuge with you from hard hearts. O Allah soften our hearts to Your remembrance!

"Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." [Ar-Ra'd (13):28]

"The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'an) are recited unto them, they increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone)." [Al-Anfaal 8:2]

So why do we not cry today? We do not cry from the strength of the hardness of our hearts and our hearts' attachment to this world. So our hearts have hardened and our eyes have dried.

We are distant from our Lord. Had we been close our hearts would not have hardened. So he, who spends a whole week without his eye dropping a tear, let him sit and supplicate and humble himself. Maybe his heart would soften and his eye would drop a tear. And if his heart doesn’t drop a tear, then let him open the Book of Allah and read its ayat with contemplation, humility and submissiveness. So if his eye cries, his heart fears and his soul humbles he has succeeded; and if he continues in the state of the hardened heart, let him sit in a dark room and weep over his state, for his heart has died.

Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar
02.26.04 (9:29 am)   [edit]
7 Muharram, 1425 A.H

Do not hate the Truth

The one who is being warned of the evil in his actions, needs to guard himself from the characteristics of arrogance and denial of truth, or to say to the person who reminds him: "Mind your own business!" Also to say something that reflects hatred towards the Truth will incur Allah’s Wrath on that person. Allah tells us in the Qur’aan:

“When it is said to him, "Fear Allah," he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. Enough for him is Hell; an evil bed indeed (to lie on)! ” (Surah Al-Baqarah verse 206)

And the person who enjoins good and forbids evil will have no more obligations after performing his task. If he is hurt or opposed in turn for his advice, he will acquire a greater reward from Allah. Thus, a true Mu’min needs to be patient and non-complaining.

In the process of performing one’s duty, one needs to intend in his heart to save himself and his fellow Muslim from sin. One needs to imagine oneself trying to save a fellow brother/sister Muslim from a tragedy like a fire, or drowning at sea. In actual fact, in the task of correcting another person’s mistake in the field of his religion is much more important and a priority. Destruction and failure in one’s Faith that causes Allah to be angry is worse than the destruction of life or property whereby its risks are only limited to this world that is fana`.Destruction of worldly material things has no standing compared to the destruction and corruption of one’s Faith. Verily, the person who enjoins good and forbids evil has made an effort to save a fellow Muslim’s soul, regardless of whether his advice is taken or not.

In relation to that, it is told that on the Day of Qiamat, there will be a person who will depend on another and the second person will not recognise him. So, the second person will say, "What is wrong with you? I do not know or recognize you!" And the first person will reply, "Yes, you have seen me before indulging in munkar and bad deeds, why didn’t you warn me then?" In a Hadith below:

"The people who stand within the limits (prescribed by) Allah and those who transgress it are like people sharing a vessel (ship) at sea. Some of them occupy the top part of the vessel and some below. The people on the lower part of the vessel, when they need to get their supply of water, needs to pass by the people who are staying on the upper part. It crossed their minds: If we make a small hole at the bottom of the vessel for us to get our supply of water, then we do not need to trouble the people on the upper part.

If they (people on the lower part) were to be left to do what they desire and fancy, everyone on the vessel will meet their destruction. But if they were given guidance, then, everyone on board the vessel shall be safe."

Meaning: People who enjoin good and forbid evil, a task that Allah has obligated us with, has not only made an effort to save their fellow Muslims but also themselves. If we prefer to ignore and keep quiet when we are able to do something, then we are blameworthy and have sinned. In addition, those who undertake this honorable task are those who are seeking and hoping for Allah’s Rewards and Promise that have been given to anyone who upholds his religion and obeys Allah’s Commands.

"O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly." (Surah Muhammad verse 7)

"Those who deny Our Signs are deaf and dumb in utter darkness. Allah misguides whoever He Wills, and puts whoever He Wills on a straight path." (Surah Al-An'am Verse 39)

"We created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts they do not understand with. They have eyes they do not see with. They have ears they do not hear with. Such people are like cattle. No, they are even further astray! They are the unaware." (Surah Al A'raf Verse 179)

"When they were told,"There is no god but Allah," they were arrogant." (Surah As-Saffat Verse 35)

"No fresh reminder comes to them from their Lord without their listening to it as if it was a game." (Surah Al-Anbiyaa Verse 2)

"When Our Signs are recited to them-Clear Signs-you can detect denial in the faces of those who do not believe. They all but assault those who recite Our Signs to them! Say:'Shall I inform you of something worse that that? The Fire which Allah has promised those who do not believe. What an evil destination!" (Surah Al-Hajj Verse 72)

"They desire to extinguish Allah's Light with their mouths. But Allah refuses to do other than perfect His Light, even though the unbelievers detest it." (Surah At-Tawbah Verse 32)

"Do they not know that Allah knows their secrets and their private talk, and that Allah is the Knower of all unseen things?" (Surah At-Tawbah Verse 78)

"As for those who desire the life of this world and its finery, We will give them full payment in it for their actions. They will not be deprived here of their due. But such people will have nothing in the hereafter but the Fire. What they achieved here will come to nothing. What they did will prove to be null and void." (Surah Hud Verses 15-16)

Say (O Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) to these Mushrikun and Kafirun): "O Al-Kafirun (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al-Qadar, etc.)! "I worship not that which you worship, "Nor will you worship that which I worship. "And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. "Nor will you worship that which I worship.
"To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)." (Surah Al-Kafiroon)

The Last Sermon of Prophet Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (S.A.W)
01.28.04 (9:21 pm)   [edit]
7 Dhul-Hijjah, 1424 A.H

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount 'Arafat in Mecca.

After praising and thanking Allah the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib [the Prophet's uncle] be waived.

Every right arising out of homicide in pre-islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that i waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibn al Harithibn.

O People, the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calender in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to forbid that which Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban.

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope of that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will meet Allah and answer your deeds. So beware: do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed Your message to Your people."

O Allaah, help us to follow the Sunnah. Cause us to live in accordance to the Sunnah and to die adhering to the Sunnah. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and May Allah Bless us with Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam to be our advocate (Shafee') in the Day of Judgement.

The Story of Alqamah
01.12.04 (7:44 am)   [edit]
19 Dhu Al-Qi'da 1424 A.H

I received this e-mail from one of the Yahoo! groups I've signed up- in it is a valuable story that (Insha-Allah) all of us can benefit from.

The Story of Alqamah

"Shall I not tell you," asked the noble Prophet (s.a.w),"of the gravest of the major sins? It is to associate others with God and to disobey parents."

There was a young man at the time of the Prophet(s.a.w), Alqamah by name. He devoted himself to worship, performing salaat, fasting, and giving charity. He became seriously ill and his wife, in great distress, went to the Prophet (s.a.w) and said:

"My husband is critically ill and I want to tell you of his condition, O Messenger of God" (s.a.w).

The Prophet (s.a.w) summoned three of his trusted companions-Bilaal (r.a), Suhayb(r.a), and Ammaar(r.a)- and told them:

"Go to Alqamah and let him recite the Shahaadah."
They went and found him in critical state and tried to make him say the Shahaadah- "Laa ilaaha illa Allah"- but the words would not come from his tongue. They reported this to the Prophet(s.a.w) who then asked:

"Is any of his parents alive?" and was told that his mother was, but that she was very old. The Prophet(s.a.w) sent someone to ask her to come to him if she
could, if however she was not able, he (s.a.w) himself would go to her. Her immediate response, showing how much she respected the Prophet (s.a.w), was:

"By my life, I am the one who should go to him."

Slowly, with her walking stick, she proceeded to the Prophet(s.a.w). She greeted him and he returned the
greetings of peace and said to her:

"Tell me the has your son Alqamah been?"

"Messenger of God(s.a.w)," she said, "he performs much salaat, fasts, and gives a great deal in charity."

"And how are you (to him)?"

"Messenger of God(s.a.w), I am angry with him."

"O Messenger of God(s.a.w), he preferred his wife against me and disobeyed me."

Thereupon the Prophet(s.a.w) said, "the anger of Alqamah's mother has certainly prevented Alqamah's tongue from uttering the Shahaadah." He then
asked Bilaal (r.a) to gather a huge bundle of firewood.

"Messenger of God (s.a.w), what will you do?" asked Alqamah's mother.

"I will burn him in the fire right in front of you."

"O Messenger of God (s.a.w)! My son! My heart cannot bear that he should be
burnt before my eyes."

"Mother of Alqamah! God's (punishment) is more severe and long lasting. If you really want God to forgive him, then show that you are pleased with him. By Him
in whose hand is my soul, Alqamah will not benefit from his prayer, his fasting, and his charity so long as you remain angry with him."

"O Messenger of God(s.a.w)! I call God to witness and the angels and those Muslims who are present here with me, that I am pleased with my son Alqamah."

Thereafter Alqamah's tongue was released and he repeated the words of the Shahaadah-

'I testify that there is no deity but God and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God.'

That very day he passed away. The Prophet (s.a.w) himself performed the Janaazah (Funeral) prayer and reminded the Muslims of the gravity of the sin of making a mother angry and the rewards of keeping her satisfaction and pleasure.

An Article- Non-Muslim Religious Celebrations and Ruling on Participating
12.30.03 (9:58 am)   [edit]
8 Dhu Al-Qi'da, 1424 A.H

Praise be to Allaah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our evil deeds. Whomever Allaah guides, none can lead astray, and whomever Allaah leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

[Some important reminders for all of us]

A few among the many innovated (bid'ah) festivals that we Muslims sometimes unknowingly celebrate/participate:

- Christmas,
- Christian New Year celebration,
- The Olympics and even
- wedding anniversary

Also, it is HARAM to congratulate (and accept invitations) on these occasions:

[an excerpt from the article]
...Congratulating the kuffaar on the occasion of their religious festivals is haraam as Ibn al-Qayyim stated, because this implies approval of their rituals and beliefs of kufr. Even if a person does not accept this kufr for himself, it is still haraam for a Muslim to approve of the rituals of kufr for someone else or to congratulate someone else for them, because Allaah does not approve of this. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"If you disbelieve, then verily, Allaah is not in need of you; He likes not disbelief for His slaves. And if you are grateful (by being believers), He is pleased therewith for you" [al-Zumar 39:7]

"This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion" [al-Maa’idah 5:3]

Dhikr- Remembrance of Allah
12.19.03 (6:52 am)   [edit]
25 Shawwal, 1424 A.H

In *Hadith Qudsi 14:

On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said:

Allah (glorified and exalted be He) has supernumerary angels who rove about seeking out gatherings in which Allah's name is being invoked: they sit with them and fold their wings round each other, filling that which is between them and between the lowest heaven. When [the people in the gathering] depart, [the angels] ascend and rise up to heaven. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h.) said: Then Allah (mighty and sublime be He) asks them - [though] He is most knowing about them: From where have you come? And they say: We have come from some servants of Yours on Earth: they were glorifying You (Subhana llah), exalting you (Allahu akbar), witnessing that there is no god but You (La ilaha illa llah), praising You (Al-Hamdu lillah), and asking [favours] of You. He says: And what do they ask of Me? They say: They ask of You Your Paradise. He says: And have they seen My Paradise? They say: No, O Lord. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Paradise! They say: And they ask protection of You. He says: From what do they ask protection of Me? They say: From Your Hell-fire, O Lord. He says: And have they seen My Hell-fire? They say: NO. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Hell-fire: They say: And they ask for Your forgiveness. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: Then He says: I have forgiven them and I have bestowed upon them what they have asked for,and I have granted them sanctuary from that from which they asked protection. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: They say: O Lord, among then is So-and-so, a much sinning servant, who was merely passing by and sat down with them. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: And He says: And to him [too] I have given forgiveness: he who sits with such people shall not suffer.

It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, at-Tirmidhi, and an-Nasa'i).

And in Hadith Qudsi 15:

On the authority of Abu Harayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah the Almighty said:

I am as My servant thinks I am (1). I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.

(1) Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: "I am as My servant expects Me to be". The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with right action would be to mock the Almighty.

It was related by al-Buhkari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah).

*Hadith Qudsi are the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) as revealed to him by the Almighty Allah. Hadith Qudsi (or Sacred Hadith) are so named because, unlike the majority of Hadith which are Prophetic Hadith, their authority (Sanad) is traced back not to the Prophet but to the Almighty.

Among the many definitions given by the early scholars to Sacred Hadith is that of as-Sayyid ash-Sharif al-Jurjani (died in 816 A.H.) in his lexicon At-Tarifat where he says: "A Sacred Hadith is, as to the meaning, from Allah the Almighty; as to the wording, it is from the messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). It is that which Allah the Almighty has communicated to His Prophet through revelation or in dream, and he, peace be upon him, has communicated it in his own words. Thus Qur'an is superior to it because, besides being revealed, it is His wording."

'Eid reflection
12.07.03 (6:50 pm)   [edit]
14 Shawwal, 1424 A.H

As I sit here and think back to what has been happening (especially during ‘Eid-ul-Fitr), I conclude that my ‘Eid celebration was bittersweet. True, ‘Eid-ul-Fitr is a day of victory. For us who fasts and increase ‘Ibadah as prescribed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala and fight the nafs within us. (That in itself is jihad) Moreover, we are encouraged to celebrate it jubilantly. But, it is disappointing to see (little) things that people do which have gone against the Qur’an and the Sunnah. I feel strongly, especially, for matters like this.

I observed some of the Muslims here (in my country) going to the extreme with ‘Eid preparations and celebration, although, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam encouraged us to practice moderation and simplicity as he sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam himself spent all his life in simplicity.

Once Umar entered Muhammad's house and noticed the state of the furniture in it. Muhammad himself had only one sheet of cloth round him to cover the lower part of his body. There was one simple bed, with one pillow filled with nut fibre; on one side of the room was some barley and in one corner near his feet was an animal skin. There were some water-bag skins hanging beside his bed. Umar said that on seeing this tears came into his eyes. God's Messenger asked the reason for his tears. He replied, "O God's Messenger! Why shouldn't I cry! The strings of the bed have left marks on your body. This is a small room with all your furniture, I can see what there is. The Kaiser of Rome and Kisra of Persia enjoy luxurious living while you, God's Messenger, and the Chosen One, live like this." He said, "Ibn Khattab! Don't you like that they choose this world and we choose the Hereafter?".

Sadly, it has become a disturbing habit to revamp homes and showing it off, sometimes comparing and feeling proud of it all. (One of the many evils of dunya) I don’t just say this for the sake of saying it but I’ve actually seen it happening. I also observed some of the womenfolk (with and without hijab) decked out in their finery to a point of going against what is prescribed for them- body-hugging, brightly coloured clothes with adornments (jewellery, make-up, etc) flashing, catching our attention when the Qur’an explicitly states in Surah An-Nur, verse 31:

“And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. “

And similarly for men, as stated also in Surah An-Nur, verse 30:

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. "

As for the spiritual aspect, I observed-

-missed prayers, (when it is clearly one of the five pillars of faith!)

"And eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not the extravagance." [7:31].

Furthermore, the Messenger of Allah said, what translated means,

"The son of Adam never fills any pot worse for him than his stomach. The son of Adam only needs that which will support his body. If he has to (eat or drink more than what is barely enough for his sustenance), then let him reserve a third (of his stomach) for his food, another third for his drink and the (last) third for his breathing."[At-Tirmithi].

-backbiting (gheebah),

“. . . neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it . . .” [al-Hujuraat 49:12]

-idle talking,

the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam advised Abu Dharr, saying: "Stay silent for long periods, as this keeps Satan away from you and helps you in the practice of your religion." Shunning frivolities and idle talk is the gate to success. Allah says that which translates as: "Certainly will the believers have succeeded. They who are during their prayer humbly submissive. And they who turn away from ill speech. (Al-Mu'minoon 23:1-3).

-loudness in speech,

-looking at haram things on the telly (‘Eid songs and music), etc.

Abu ‘Aamir and Abu Maalik al-Ash’ari (may Allaah be pleased with them) reported that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said: “Among my ummah will be those who make permissible al-hira(adultry or zinah), silk, khamr and musical instruments . . .” (Reported by al-Bukhaari; see al-Fath, 10/51). Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In this ummah there will be punishments of earthquakes, showers of stones and deformity (transformation into animals); that will be when the people drink khamr, listen to female singers and play musical instruments.” (See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 2203; attributed to Ibn Abi’l-Dunyaa, Dhamm al-Malaahi; the hadeeth was narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2212).

As a reminder for all of us, remember Allah has issued a threat to the one who transgresses His set limits and violates His prohibitions, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And whosoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, and transgresses His limits, He will cast him into the Fire, to abide therein; and he shall have a disgraceful torment.” [al-Nisaa’ 4:14]

Allahumma ajirnaa minan naar
[O Allah! Save us from hell-fire]

This upsets me immensely. But if I were to speak out, it would mean offending the elderly (which we must never do) and being as though I’m ‘holier’ and righteous. Allah Forbids! So, when all else fail, be silent and make lots of Istighfar. And I did just that, but it is difficult to totally shut out from hearing or looking when all the things aforementioned happened right before my eyes.

May Allah Forgive me if I turned out caustic with my words, I am but a weak servant of His and I pray that we be shown taufiq and hidayah from Him, to the Straight Path and my constant prayers for you, May Allah Forgive us and keep us away from the Hellfire.

Ameen Ya Rabbal ‘Aalameen.

'Eid Mubarak!

2 Shawwal, 1424 A.H

Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillaahi Rabbil 'Aalameen!

To all my brothers and sisters of Islam, I wish all of you 'Eid Mubarak. May Allah forgive our past sins, big and small, seen and unseen, intentional and unintentional. May Allah make us steadfast in our Iman and eventually take our souls as Muslims. Insha-Allah let us celebrate this 'Eid within the perimeters prescribed by Allah 'Azza Wa Jalla. Let us not transgress His limits for Allah likes not the transgressors. May Allah constantly remind us of the less fortunate so that we may become better Muslims. Ameen Ya Rabbal 'Aalameen.

Taqabbal Allaahu minnaa wa minkum
[May Allaah accept {the fast and worship} from us and from you]

Peace and blessings unto our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu 'alaihi Wasallam and all Praise be to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'aala for verily He is The Lord of the Universe.

Women, should avoid adornment when they go out for Eid, because they are prohibited from showing their adornment in front of non-mahrem men. A woman who wants to go out is forbidden to wear perfume or to show off in a tempting way in front of men, because she is only going out for the purpose of worship. Do you think that it is right for a believing woman to disobey the One Whom she is going out to worship and go against His commands by wearing attention-grabbing tight and brightly coloured clothes or by putting on perfume and so on?

Seek Laylatul Qadr
11.11.03 (8:48 am)   [edit]
17 Ramadhan, 1424 A.H

Alhamdulillaahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen. Seventeen days of Ramadhan have passed. I hope we have all been diligent with doing ‘Ibaadah- with sincerest of faith, remorse (for the sins we have committed) and most importantly, fear for Allah ‘Azza Wa Jalla. As a reminder to me before anyone else- there is NO ROOM FOR COMPLACENCY if our goal is to seek Allah’s Forgiveness and Mercy and to strive to enter His Jannah. Insha-Allah!

With the last ten days coming up, I’m sure all of us are anticipating Laylatul Qadr. This is an opportunity given by Allah for us to intensify our ‘Ibaadah all for the sake of seeking His Forgiveness and Mercy.

Ubaadah bin Saamit (Radhiallahu ‘anhu) reports that he asked the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) about "Laylatul Qadr". He replied: "It is in Ramadhan, during the last ten days, on the unevenly numbered nights, either the 21st 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th or the last night of Ramadhan. Whosoever stands in "Ibaadah" on this night, with sincere faith and with genuine hopes of gaining reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Among the signs of this night is that it is a serene, quiet, shining night, neither hot, nor cold but temperate as if a moon is shining clear, and no meteors are shot at the "Shayateen" on that night; it lasts until the break of the dawn. Another sign is that at morn, the Sun rises without any radiant beams of light, appearing rather like the moon in it's fullness. On that day, Allah prohibits the "Shayateen" from rising up with the Sun."

But sadly, most of us would not realize if it’s serene, hot or cold because we would be too caught up with preparations for ‘Eid- sewing curtains, sewing clothes for relatives or friends, shopping at the night markets, replacing old furniture or decoratives in the house. Whereas the last ten days should be spent at home in ‘Ibaadah anticipating for the blessed night if Allah Wills.

So, my dear Muslim brothers and sisters, let us not lose sight of the meaning of Ramadhan. Constantly, remember Allah ‘Azza Wa Jalla by doing dhikr, reciting the Holy Qur’an, give salawat for our beloved Prophet Muhammad Rasul Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam and be in constant contemplation.

Lastly, let us constantly remember our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate in our supplications. Especially, those who are fighting in the cause of Allah and those who are oppressed by the kuffar in their own countries. May Allah Grant us victory. Insha-Allah. Ameen Ya Rabbal ‘Aalameen.

“Rabbana La Taj’alna Fitnatal Lil Qawmizh-zhaalimeen. Wa Najjinaa Bi Rahmatika Minal Qawmil Kaafireen.”

[Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the evildoing folk, and save us by Your Mercy from people who deny the truth. (10:85-86)]

Reciting the Qur'an
11.06.03 (9:27 pm)   [edit]
Verily, your Lord knows that you do stand (to pray at night) a little less than two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so do a party of those with you, And Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are unable to pray the whole night, so He has turned to you (in mercy). So, recite you of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knows that there will be some among you sick, others travelling through the land, seeking of Allah's Bounty; yet others fighting in Allah's Cause. So recite as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat, and lend to Allah a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, (i.e. Nawafil non-obligatory acts of worship: prayers, charity, fasting, Hajj and 'Umrah, etc.), you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek Forgiveness of Allah. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

Surah Al-Muzzammil (73:20)

Increase our Dhikr, Du'a and Istighfar
11.06.03 (8:37 am)   [edit]
12 Ramadham, 1424 A.H

The virtues of Ramadhan are great indeed. One of them is (as reported in the Sahih Ahadith) that the du'a of the fasting person will not be refused (reported by al-Bayhaqi, 3/345; al-Silsilat al-Saheeh, 1797). So let us make the most of this opportunity by increasing our 'ibaadah- one of them is by doing lots of dhikr, du'a and Istighfar for by doing lots of them it purifies the heart and develop God-consciousness. Insya-Allah.

I recommend you to recite this (include this in your dhikr/wirid after every fard prayers):

"Allahumma Innaka 'Afuwwun Tuhibbul 'Afwa Fa'Fu'Anna"
["O Allah, Thou art the One who grants pardon for sins. Thou lovest to pardon, so pardon me."]

Yaa Kareem!

It was actually reported in a sahih hadith from 'Aisha (radhiallahu 'anha): "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'alaihi wassallam), should I find myself the "Laylatul Qadr", what shall I say? The Prophet (Sallallahu 'alaihi wassallam) replied: say, Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu'anna "O Allah, Thou art the One who grants pardon for sins. Thou lovest to pardon, so pardon me."

Allahu a'lam if we get to experience Laylatul-Qadr or we don't, nonetheless, include the above du'a with your other du'a after fard prayers. Recite it with confidence, full faith and with remorse (for ALL the sins we have committed). Insya-Allah Ta'alaa, Allah 'Azza Wa Jalla will forgive all our past sins for He is The Most Compassionate, Most Merciful and Oft-Forgiving.

O Allaah, accept this (worship) from us, for You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing, and accept our repentance for You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful.

Sisters Peforming Taraaweeh in the Maasjid
11.01.03 (8:20 pm)   [edit]
7 Ramadhan, 1424 A.H

Just a short reminder for you and me. And Allahu 'alam.

There is nothing wrong with women attending Taraaweeh prayers so long as there is no risk of fitnah, and they go out looking decent, not making a wanton display of themselves in attractive clothes or wearing makeup, and they pray with proper focus and humility, keeping the houses of Allaah free from idle talk and evil speech such as backbiting, malicious gossip or talking about their household affairs, so that they will be free of sin and will earn the reward of Allaah.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever prays at night in Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 37; Muslim, 759.

O Allaah, accept this (worship) from us, for You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing, and accept our repentance, for You are the Acceptor of Repentance, the Most Merciful.

In the Shade of the Qur'an
10.30.03 (7:08 am)   [edit]
4 Ramadhan 1424

In Ramadan all forms of goodness are observed, headed by the Qur'an. The angel Gabriel (peace be with him) taught the Prophet (sallallaahu'alaihi wa sallam) the best deeds in Ramadan, i.e. observing fasting and reciting the Qur'an, and both of them intercede for their observer on the Day of Judgement. It is narrated as follows:

"Fasting will say to Allah:
'O Allah, to observe me, he was deprived from food and worldly pleasures during the day, so allow me to intercede for him.'
Then the Qur'an will say:
'Reciting me, he was deprived of sleep during night, so allow me to intercede for him.' Hence Allah will permit them to intercede." [It is narrated by Ahmed, An-Nasa'i and Al-Hakim]

Ramadhan The Blessed Month

3 Ramadhan 1424

An excerpt from:-

Ramadhan the Blessed Month
By Shaykhul Hadeeth Muhammad Zakariyya

...Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said further: Every day at the time of iftaar, Allah sets free one thousand souls from the fire of Jahannam who had previously been found deserving Jahannam. On the last night, He sets free as many more as had been set free throughout the month. On the night of Laylatul Qadr, Allah commands Jibra'il to descend to the earth with a large group of angels. They descend carrying a green flag, which is then planted on top of the Kaa'bah. Jibra'il alayhis salaam himself has one hundred wings, two of which are spread out on this night only. He spreads out these two wings so that their width extends from east to west. Jibra'il alayhis salaam then sends out the angels in all directions to offer salutation to anybody they find standing in prayer or sitting, performing salaat or celebrating the praises of Allah. They shake hands with them and say aameen to all their du'as (prayers) until dawn. When dawn comes, Jibra'il alayhis salaam calls out: "Depart O angels of Allah, depart." The angels then inquire: "O, Jibra'il what did Allah do regarding the needs that the faithful ones from among the ummah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam put before Him?" Jibra'il alayhis salaam replies: "Allah looked at them with Mercy and pardoned them all, except four kinds of people."

Thereupon, we the sahaabah inquired: "Who are they, O Rasulullah?" Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam replied: "They are the ones who are addicted to wine, those disobedient to their parents, those who cut themselves off from their near relatives, and those who harbour ill-will against their fellow beings and break off relations with them." Purify our hearts
10.27.03 (2:40 pm)   [edit]
2 Ramadhan 1424

In this month full of barakah and rahmah let us refrain and avoid ghibaa' (backbiting). Instead, let us make lots of dzikrullah to cleanse and purify our 'diseased' hearts.

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (Radhiallahu 'anhu):

Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu `alaihi wasallam) said :When I was taken up to heaven I passed by people who had nails of copper and were scratching their faces and their breasts. I said: Who are these
people, Gabriel? He replied: They are those who were given to back biting and who aspersed people's honour.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood 4860

May Allah Azza Wa Jalla accept our 'ibaadah and bestow His Mercy upon us and forgive all our past sins. Ameen.
